MONTHLY MEETING Mr. J. Reid presided at the monthly meeting of the Opotiki Borough Council with councillors W. Butler, G. F. Joblin, J. Wilson, A. Martin, G. O. Donovan, J. Neilson, R. Hedley, W. Gault, J. Butler, C. F. Black and G. F. Powell. Road Metalling A petition was received from a committee at Omaramutu asking the council if it would assist them to metal about eight chains of road between the main East Coast Road and Omaramutu Pa. The engineer advised that it would take the lorry about two days to complete the work. As the petitioners had formed the road and offered to provide the labour it was decided to carry out the work. An Appointment Ail application was received from R. W. Paget to be appointed ra.nger and dog registrar on East 1 Coast Road. The council decided that as they had one ranger now that was suflicient. Road Repairs Mrs. Gibbs, of Kutarere, wrote asking the council to repair the road at the front of the her store. Ragwort ' A letter from the Miriister of Agriculture advised that he was obtaining more information with reference to the question of ragwort on native sections in the district. Health Inspection The Health Department wrote ad- , vising that it was desired to make ar- ' rangements for an annual subseription from local bodies towards the cost of health inspectors so that the subscriptions might be raised or lowered according to the cost to the department.
