OPOTIKI SALE

The New Zealand Loan and Mereantile report at the Opotiki Monthly Sale there was a small yarding of cattle which sold well at an advance . on late rates. Fat and forward cattle met with keen competition: — Steers, 2| and 3 year, £3 2s 6d; fat cows, £3 10s to £4 2s; heifers, 2-year, to 35s; dairy cows to £3 15s; weaner steers, 12s 6d to 15s; cows and caltes, 30s; bulls to 30s. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on the monthly stock sale held in the Opotiki saleyards. There was an average yarding of cattle, competition was brisk and a full clearance was effected under the hammer at advanced rates. We quote: Prime fat cows, £3 7s 6d to £4 11s; (the top price being obtained for a choice Shorthorn cow on account of Mr. C. T. Clark); lighter fat cows, £2 2s 6d to £2 8s 6d; forward cond. cows, 31s to 35s; store cows, 10s to 27s; heavy bulls, £2 to £2 13.s 6d; lighter, 15s t'o 27s; cull ewes 8s.
