L The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, 1 report on their Ngaruawahia stock " and annual special sheep fair held yes- '■ terday as follows. — A very large entry of lambs were submitted, while there was a scarcity of good breeding ewes. Brisk competition ruled right throughout the sale, practically everything changing h'ands at prices 4s to 5s in advance of those realised at the same sale last year. All classes of lambs met with the same keen demand. Aged ewes brought prices satisfactory to vendors, but a pen of 2 and 4-tooth failed to reach the reserve and were passed in at 14/6. We sold 133 rape ewe lambs at 9s 6d; 135 rape m.s. lambs at 9s; 174 good wether lambs at 8s 3d; best store m.s. lambs 8s 3d to 9s ld; medium do. 6s 8d to 8s; poorer conditioned 5s 6d to 6s 5d; inferior 3s lld to 5s; medium 5-year ewes up to 9s 5d; inferior do. up to 7s 6d; several Southdown rams made from 24 to 31 gns. Late rates were maintained for a small entry of fat and store cattle. Light fat cows made from £2 10s to £3 2s 6d; lighter do. £2 to £2 8s; unfinished £1 15s to £2; stores £1 ls to £1 9s.
