BRITAIN'S MOVE
ROOSEVELT MAINTAINS HIS POKER FACE A STEP IN THE GAME Rec. Jan. 27, 7.0 p.m. Washington, January 26. The State Department contends that the British me.morand.um is a step in the game and is not necessarily final It is thought that Great Britain is merely seeking to re-assure France that she will not be a party to setting up an Anglo-American economic bloc against the world. Persons so interpreting the British note, read with pleasure' the despatch from Warm Springs which represented that Mr Roosevelt was considering the move a strategic one, and therefore, he is determined to maintain a poker face.
