MANY ATTRACTIONS

ARRANGEMENTS FOR WEEKEND CATER FOR ALL TASTES A comprehensive programme of attractions has been arranged for Anniversary Day week-end in Rotorua and much will be f ound by visitors and i residents to interest them during the holiday. To-day the Rotorua Crieket Association's competition matches will be continued and tennis, bowls and croquet will be played in the Government Grounds. In the evening the Rotorua Municipal Band will play in the Town Square.

To-morrow, Sunday, many will no doubt visit the Blue Baths or be occupied on scenic trips round the district, while in the evening a specially arranged Maori sacred concert will be given in the Town Square by the talented Ohinemutu Maori Choir. The main attraetion for Monday is the Maori regatta and carnival to he held on the Ohinemutu lalce-front. The features of this carnival are similar to that which proved so successful and enjoyable on New Year's Day, and include horse and dog swimming races, canoe hurdle races, halcas, war dances and pois in addition to swimming and novelty events. At mid-day food cooked in typically old-time Maori fashion will be served to th public and in the evening a Maori concert will be held in the open air fronti*g Tama-te-kapua meeting house. Other interesting attractions on Monday will be the representative cricket match at the Government Grounds between Bay of Plenty and South Auckland, and the progressive pairs competitions arranged by the Rotorua Bowling Club. Yisiting bowlers are specially inVited by the club to take part in this competition, which will commence at o'clock.

On Tuesday evening the third carnival of the Rotorua Swimming Club will be held in the main Blue Bath, and there is no doubt that this carnival will prove quite as popular as those held by the club earlier in the season.
