Okataina Scenery Board The first meeting of the recently constituted Okataina Scenery Preservation Board was held yesterday afternoon for the purpose of electing a chairman and acting-secretary. On the motion of Mr. Eremiha Nehi, seconded by Mr. Miha Aporo, Mr. H. Tai Mitchell was elected chairman on a unanimous vote. Mr. Kepa Ehau j was elected acting-secretary. After this routine preliminary business, the board adjourned until Thursday of next week.

Deep Sea Fishing Good sport is being obtained by fishermen in the vicipity of Mayor Island. On Thursday a mako weighing 258 lbs. gave Mr. H. E. Olding, exciting sport for over an hour, the shark burying its teeth in some planking when being drawn aboard the launch. Three fish were landed by a party fishing from the launeh Kenya on the same day. Mr. L. Heard I secured a striped marlin weighing 310 lbs, Mr. E. Heard a 400 1b mako and Mr. W. McLeay, a 2001b mako, all giving good displays and taking some time to land. Dancing at Majestic Ballroom Special arrangements have been made for the Anniversary Day Ball to be held in the Majestic Ballroom this evening. Special decorations have been arranged in the hall and during the evening a fox-trot competition will be held. The good floor and exeellent music assured by the ever popular Epi Shalfoon's Melody Boys orchestra ensure the dance being an outstanding success.

Camp at Opotiki Fifty high school cadets, under the command of Lieut. Seville, will go into camp at the Opotiki Domain on February 5 for several days training. The camp equipment is being supplied by the Defence Department, but the boys will supply their own food.
