The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd. report: — At our Matamata stock sale yesterday a full yarding of all classes of sheep came forward, including many pens of fat sheepA Fat wethers came forward in average numbers and a decided increase in price prevailed, while ewe mutton sold firm at late rates. Quotations for fat lambs remained unchanged. A full yarding of store lambs attracted spirited competition "'and firm late rates resulted. Cattle. Th'e full advertised numbers came forward, including a special entry o'f 230 cattle from the Crossing Estate, the majority of which, being Igood quality beef, attracted good competition from outside buyers and late firm rates were maintained. A line of 49 steers averaged £5 12s, while 20 P.A. heifers realised £4 5s. Other cow and heifer beef was also firm with export buyers. operating freely at new schedule rates, bulls especially commanding spirited competition. Pigs: A large yarding of fat pigs again sold readily under extra keen competition, values for both baconers and porkers showing a sharp advance on last sale's quotations. Generally •pealcing the market at present is particularly good. Quotations : — Prime medium fat lambs, 11s 6d to 12s 6d; lighter fat lambs 10s 4d to 11s; prime fat woolly hoggets, 14s 3d to 15s; shorn fat hoggets, 12s to 13s 6d; medium fat wethers 13s 6d to 14s 9d; lighter fat wethers, 12s to 12s 9d; prime fat ewes 8s 9d to 9s 7d; lighter fat ewes, 5s to 6s 6d; medium m.s. lambs, 6s 9d to 8s; cull lambs, 5s to 6s 2d. Cattle: Medium fat Hereford steers, £5 12s to £5 18s; medium fat P.A. steers, £5 2s to £5 16s; medium fat Shorthorn steers £5 10s to £5 17s; lighter fat steers £4 to £4 10s; killable £3 4s to £3 12s; prime fat heifers £4 to £4 10s; lighter fat heifers £3 to £3 8s; heavy fat cows £4 5s to £4 16s; medium fat cows, £3 5s to £3 15s; lighter fat cows £2 5s to' £2 14s; killable cows, 33s to 39s; forward cond. cows and heifers, 25s to 30s; grown steers £2 17s to £3 5s; 1| to 2 year P.A. steers 39s to £2 11s; heavy fat bulls, £3 17s 6d to £4 6s; lighter fat bulls £2 to £3 5S; heavy boner cows 21s to 28s; lighter boners cows 11s to 16s; sourid dairy cows ; £3 10s to £4.
