VALEDICTORY

MRS. N. F. BENHAM A very pleasant afternoon was given to Mrs. N. F. Benham at the residence of Mrs. T. H. Pearson, president of the Opotiki Mothers' Union, on Monday afternoon. A competition given by Miss M. Braae was won by Mrs. G. Fussell, and Mrs. M. O. Kidd gave a recitation. Mrs. Pearson served a delicious afternoon tea after which' she presented Mrs. Benham with a handsome brown leather hat box with blue facings, as a token of the esteem in which she was held by the members of the Mothers' Union. A pair of kid gloves were placed in the hat box. Mrs. Benham suitably responded. Amongst the members present were: Mesdames M. Kidd, R. O'Sullivan, W. Kirkbride, F. Holloway, H. Larmer, W. Reece, Sydenham (senior), G. Bennett, T. Clark, P. Clark, Hartshorne, J. Hughes, J. Talbot, W. Upton, G. Bramley, G. Russell, W- Anderson, and Nurse Nesbitt. The afternoon was concluded with singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
