ALLOY BEATS GAY IDEA IN THE THAMES PLATE KING MESTOR WINS AGAIN
Thamies, Saturday. First day form worked out well for the closing day of the Thames Jockey Club's annual meeting which was held to-day on the Parawai course. Features were the dual wins of Grand Talk, King Mestor and Gold Day, whilst Welcome Boy, Neil, Gay Idea, Chief Joy, Chromadyne and Hawthorn who had been placed on Thursday were again prominent, the last-named winning after* dead-heat-ing on the first day. Four first favourites won and two ran second. Tote Figures Down 12 per cent. During the day the totalisator registered £6851, against £8850 on the second day last year, a decrease of £1999. For the meeting the amount put through was £13,557, compared with £16,351 for 1932, a decrease of £2794.
