Cow and heifer beef penned in average numbers also sold readily with values for .prime quality also improving Extra choice ox sold to 10s per 1001b; choice and prime ox, 16s to 18s; ordinary and plain, 13s to 15s; prime young cow and heifer beef, 14s to 18s; ordinary cow beef, 10s to 13s; heavy prime steers, £6 10s to £7 2s 6d; lighter prime steefs, £5 15s to £6 7s 6d; light prime steers, £4 10s to £5 10s; unfinished and small, £3 10s to £4 7s 6d; heavy prime young cows and heifers, £4 5s to £5 5s; lighter, £3 5s to £4 2s 6d; light cows, £2 5s to £3 2s 6d; other cows, £1 5s to £2 2s 6d. Sheep were yarded in average numbers. There, was a ready demand with values firming for all classes of prime mutton. Heavy prime wethers made 14s 6d to 15s 6d; medium prime wethers, 13s to 14s 4d; light prime wethers, 11s to 12s 9d; small and unfinished wethers, 8s to 10s 9d. Heavy and medium prime ewes, 7s to 8s 3d; iight prime ewes, 6s to 6s 9d; inferiorly fatted ewes, 3s to 5s 6d; prime hoggets, 9s 6d to 13s 6d. Lambs were pended in large. numbers. Here also there was a ready demand and values were very firm at late rates. Medium to heavy prime lambs made 10s to 14s 3d; light prime and small, 8s 6d to 9s 9d; store lambs, 5s to 8s. There was a heavy yarding of pigs which sold under steady competition at values firm on last week's quotations. Choppers sold from £1 to £1 12s 6d; heavy and medium baconers, from £1 18s to £2 4s; light baconers and heavy porkers, from £1 10s to £1 16s; medium porkers and light porkers, from £1 to £1 8s. Values for store pigs were easier, large stores realising 12s to 16s; slips, 7s to 11s; weaners, 3s to 7s. Calves were penned in average numbers. Values were firm, but eased considerably in the concluding stages of the sale.. Runners sold at £1 5s to £2 7s 6d; heavy vealers, £1 16s to £2 4s; medium, £1 8s to £1 14s; light, £1 to £1 6s; smaller, 10s to 18s; small and fresh-dropped, 3s to 7s.
