Capetown, Jan. 11. Amid scenes of great enthusiasm, General Smuts was welcomed by 10,)00 people when he arrived at Cape;own. "This is a great city. This is unity it last," said General Smuts, whose iourney all the way from the north was marked by scenes of political mthusiasm and excitement prohably .inpreeedented of their kind in South Africa. The country is now keenly awaitng the outcome of the Roos-South African party negotiations at Johanlesburg, which will be submitted to General Smuts and his co-leaders this ifternoon. General Smuts has already intimated_ that he will not allow consid?rations for the Premiership to obstruct Coalition.
