LOOTING AND DESTROYING ' IN THE ALWAR STATE MILITARY AID SOUGHT

Rec. Jan. 8, 6.5 p.m. Calcutta, Jan. 7. Nine thousand Meo rebels are terrorising the Alwar State, looting and destroying* property valued at thousands of pounds. The authorities have appealed to the Indian Government to send British and Indian troops to quell the rebellion, whieh has got beyond control. The Meo people are of military tradition, supplying many soldiers to the Indian army. The rebellion is led by Charld Wahr Kas, a f ormer non-commis-sioned officer of an Indian cavalry regiment. He served during the war.
