THE WEATHER
The Govarnment ' meteorolofdst issued the following weather report and forecast last night: — General situation: Pressure is very low to-day in the neighbourhood of the Chatham Islands, but rising slowly over Nev/ Zealand with the advance of a slight anti-cycione across the Tasman Sea. A slight depression crossed Tasmania to-day, Forecast: Winds south-westerly in parts of the East Coast; otherwise moderate, veering to westerly and 'north -v/esteriy shortly in and south of Cook Strait. Weather: For the most part fair to fine, some isolated shov/ers probabiy at first along the east coast and later extending to the west and far south of the South Island. Temperatures cool, but becoming warmer in | the morning. Following are the barometer,- maximum and minlmum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. SATURDAY Barometer 29.424ins. Thermometer (max.) 72.2deg. Thermometer (min.) 58.0deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 56.2deg. Rainfall 0.26ins. Bright Sunshine 6.6hrs. SUN DAY j Barometer 29.618ins. > Thermometer (max.) 68.1deg. Thermometer (min.) .... 48.5deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 38.3deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 9.0hrs.
