MOTOR CAR FASHIONS
The new fashion in motor cars is ' undoubtedly the "wind-swept body" J — an attractive development of the stream-lined body with which all are familiar. On entering Olympia, writes a London correspondent, where next year's models are displayed in the International Show, one's first reaction to the glittering display is "How very pretty!" Certainly those long, low bonnets catch the eye, hut if they are ilifted 'the mechanical sense is equally satisfied. There is strength and any amount of pep underneath the attractive body work and cheerful paint — how very feminine motors are becoming! The wide adoption- of various methods of easy gear transmission is the main engineering development this year. Some conservative-minded drivers, who take a pride in displaying their skill, are inclined to complain on the grounds that such smplified motoring leads to monotony and resuperiority over the tyro. Anyhow, it is a good show, and though prices of models, one can certainly get much more for one's money this year, both in the way of comfort and engine efficiency. _
