THEFT CHARGES
George Joseph O'Sullivan, who said he was walking from Auckland to j Gisborne to look for work, appeared j before the Justices of the Peace at j Opotiki on Monday morning charged i with having stolen three spanners, j valued at 10/-, from George Anderscn's garage in Church Street, and also with having stolen two strings of beads and 7/- in money, the property of Mrs. Jean Amelia Jackson, of Remuera, Auckland, who was staying at a hotel while on a visit to Opotiki. Accused pleaced -guilty to the first and minor charge, but not guilty to the charge of stealing the beads and money. He was convicted on the first charge and convicted and sentenced to six weeks' im-prisonment at Mt. Eden on the seeond charge.
