BAKEHOUSE TOTALLY DESTROYED OWNED IN ROTORUA

Putaruru, Thursday. Fire which brok© out ahout 10.3 last night totally destroyed a bakehouse occupied hy Mr. George Radd. The origin of the fire is unknown. Mr. Radd and his staff left the premises ahout 8 p.m. The building was then secure. When the outbreak was noticed the flames had a strong hold. A bucket brigade was formed, the efforts of the willing helpers being concentrated on saving the storeroom of the hakery and the Kensington dining-room adjoining. The building was owned by Mr. Bear, of Rotorua, and it is not known whether it is covered by insurance." A boarder of the Kensington Dining Rooms, who was sleeping in. a tent within 25 feet of the hurning bakehouse, slept soundly throughout the conflagration, and was only awakened after the building was a smouldering ruin.
