british government will majntain present restrictions

Christchurch, Wednesday Mr. David Jonos, Chairman of the Meat Producers Board has reeeived the following cahle from the Board's London ofiice. "The Minister of Agriculture announced in the House of Commons that in order to maintain prices, the British Government must fully realise the necessity of continuinj* the voluntary emergency restrictions -on meat and hacon imports which will expire early in January." Mr. Jones stated that it was very important that farmers should realise the definite intention of the British Government to maintain prices. He added that negotiations were now proceeding* and it was expected that a statement would be made within the next few days.
