A COINCIDENCE
Mr. J. Jones, of Mukden, China, who is on a visit ta his brother-in-law, Mr. G. Griffiths, of Opotiki, experienced an unusual coincidence while on a motor tour with Mr. Griffiths recently. The tour was through Gisborne, Napier, Hastings, Taupo, Wanganui, around the coast to New Plymouth thence to Stratford, back to New Plymouth, Te Kuiti, Waitomo Caves, Hamilton, Auckland, and through Rotorua to Opotiki again. Before leaving China Mr. Jones happened to be talking- to a very old friend, who on hearing- that he was going to New Zealand remarked, "Oh I've got an uncle there. I'll give you his address and if you get near him look him up." Mr. Jones made a note of the address and when he found himself in the district on the tour decided to look the uncle upi but found he had left the address behind and could not do so. Mr. Griffiths, however, wished to' call on the R'ev. Hird, at one time of Opotiki and aceordingly they went to his house only to find that he was away at a Sunday school picnic about six miles out in the country. They made their way out to the farm where the picnic was being held and on their arrival were invited to tea. During tea their hostess remarked that she had a nephew in Shanghai, China, and it proved that Mr. and Mrs. Boyd, their hosts were the aunt and uncle to whom, Mr. Jones had been given the iritroduction by his friend in China.
