— By Telegi aph — Cop yrlght) .

Ree. Dee. 24. London, Dec. 23. ■The British Golf Union has officially announced that the scheme to reduce bogey scores by one will operate on January 1. The decision is hased on the increased travelling power of the ball, the steel shafts permitting longer and straighter hitting, and the improved eondition of the courses. Tests have shown that the average carry obtained hy a scratch player has increased ten yards for a drive, and five yards for a brassie. Under the new scoring par three will be up to 250 yards,* par four, 250 to 470; par five, over 470.
