BENNETT SENTENCED AT TE AWAMUTU COUiRT

Tje Awamutu, Friday. Two men who escaped from the Hautu prison caxxxp' last Fehruary, Edgar Willianx Allen (alias Roy Norris) and Chax-les Bennett, were before justices of the peace this morning td answer several charges of breaking and entering and the theft of goods and cash froxxi stores at Ohaupo, Te Awamutu", Pirongia, Otorohaxxga, afidMahoexxui during the period of theiiv liberty. Both xnexx pleaded guilty to all charges. Oxx the five prineipal charges Bennett was committed to the Auckland Sixprexxxe Court for sentence, and oii the nxinor charges was sentenced to 18 xxxonths' imprisonment. Another charge of th'e theft of jewellery, etcv at Waverley was preferred againat Bennett, who was remanded to atxswer the charge at Wanganui. Ailen had been dealt with on many other charges soon after his. recapture last April in the Wanganui district. Bennett was recaptured a fhrtnight ago in the Te Kuitx district.
