SECOND FIXTURE TERMINATES AS RESULT OF RAIN HOME TEAM'S BAD START

Rec. Dec. 23, 7.10 p.m. Hobart, Dec. 23. The second match England v. Tasmania commenced at Hobart to-day. The play was hampered by rain. soon after the commencement. Tasmania won the toss and batted, but started disastrously losing their captain, Atkinson, for none and Badcock for four. They were two wiekets down for 13 when heavy rain fell and the players ran to the pavilion. At 2.35 the rain continued and the play was abandoned. Tasmania — First Innings Atkinson, c Ames, b Allen 0 Badcock, c Ames, b Verity 4 Green, not out 9 Burrows, not out 0 Total for two wiekets 13
