CROQUET AFTERNOON

t Last Wednesday afternoon the president of the Rotorua Croquet Club (Mrs. W. H. Speer) entertained members at a delightful Christmas party held at the club lawns. Various eompstitions were arranged, the winners being: A stroke, Miss S. Snodgrass; B. stroke, Mrs. W. H. Speer. A break, Mrs. F. Moorh'ouse; B break, Mrs. Herd. A dainty tea was served in the club pavilion, which had b'een decorated for the occasion with streamers in the club colours. A feature of the tea was a large Christmas cake which claimed the honouP on the table and which was afterwards cut by th'e president who in doing so wished members the compliments of the season. On behalf of the club, Mrs. J. Halkett presented Mrs. W. H. Speer with a nandsome bouquet of sweet peass and maidenhair fern, together with season's greetings from the members. Among those present were: Mrs. W. L. Riehards, Mrs. B. M. Green, Mrs. J. R. Blencowe, Mrs. C. R. Lloyd, Mrs W. T. Pakes, Mrs D. M. Ford Mrs F. Moorhouse, Mrs. F. C. Bunyard, Mrs. T. Mellsop, Mrs. J. McDowell, Mrs. M. Manson, Mrs. Herd, Mrs. Todd, Mrs. T. Parata, Mrs. Hesketh, Mrs. Thomsen Mrs. W. W. P. Hall, Mrs. A. Kean, Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. Heley, Miss S. Snodgrass. '
