FORCED LANDING NEAR THE MANGERE 'DROME

Auckland, Wednesday, An Avro-Avian biplane, privatelyowned, was damaged in a forced landing near the Mangere aerodrome this morning. Pilot D. McNicol, of Dannevirke, had as a passenger Miss I. Gunn, of Taumarunui. The plane toolc off at 10 o,elock, but the engine stopped while still at ' a low altitude. The pilot decided to land in a nearby field. The landing wheel came off, and the plane plunged its nose into the ground. The damage was not ex~ tensive and neither oeeupant was injured.
