Rec. Dec. 21, 7.0 p.m. Port Hope, Deeember 20. The only radium refinery in the British Empire will be operating* within ten days- It operates from Canadian ore and the radium will prove a challenge to the Bell Syndicate which controls the world supply. Sixty-six tons of pitch blend of almost unbelieveahle richness has been mined in the Great Bear Lake District in the far north of Canada. According to Canadian geologists, its average is between 40 and 50 per cent radiumoxide, and will produce about 120 milograms of refined l'adium per ton.
