THE WEATHER
The Govprnment meteoroloplst issued the following weather report and forecast last nijht: — Genera! situation: A moderate anticyclone is centred to-day off the East Coast of the South Island; while a shalloW depression has been located over the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds south-easierly about Cook Strait, elsewhere easteriy to northerly, moderate to fresh. Weather: Dull and misty in the North Island; isolated- showers in the South Isla'nd, rain in the far north a'nd gradually extending southward; mainly fair in the western and southejm portions of the South Island. Following are the barometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, 'and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 30.005ins. Thermometer (max.) 76.0deg. Thermometer (min.) 52.8deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 4.1hrs.
