POPULAR MISSION WORKER FAREWELLED BY MAORIS | MLss Snoad of tho Maori Mission j loft by train yesterday for six I months furlouyh in the Homelands She sails on Friday by s.s. "Rangitane." Miss Snoad carae out from EngI land five years ago for work amongst tho Maoris and has been stationed at Whakarewarewa. During the last few weeks, she has been given warm farewells from her friends in the Maori pas and has been. the reeipient of many gifts of aroha from parents and children. Among these wero a heautiful historfcal piu-piu presented by the Rev. and Mrs. Manihera Tumatahi and from the Rev. Tureia Puha a carved eomb inlaid with paua shells. In recognition of her work in connection with the' Girl Guides and Brownies she received from the Ladies' Guide Committee, a hook to read on the voyage. On Sunday evening Deeember 18, the Bishop of Aotearoa preaehed to a crowded congregation in Te Arawa Church. After the sernjon he spoke niost appreciatively of the good work done by Miss Snoad and of the great affection she had won among the Maoris. All would welcome her rc turn. He concluded with a prayer for a safe and happy voyage and bade her God speed.
