Rec. Dec. 20, 8.40 p.m. Calcutta, Dec. 20.* Mr. John Gilbert Bourne, Deputy Commissioner for the Betul district, Central Provinces, died as the result of injuries received from a tiger, while gallantly attempting to rescue an Indian beater who was being mauled. Mr. Bourne shot and fatally injured one tiger whose mate attacked the , beater and then turhecl on Mr. Bourne
