A LIST OF MAXIMS
1. Give way to ascending traffic on hills, even should I have th'e prior right to the road. 2. Allow crossing horse-drawn vehicles with heavy Ioads to have the preference. I can stop and re-start with infinitely less labour than they. 3. Goncede all cyclists at least a couple' of yards free swerving space when overtaking. They generally need it! ' > ' . 4. In particular, pay special atten- ■ tion — cautionary, yet not amorous! — to young lady cyclists. Would to the
diety of motorists their road manners and sense equalled their charm and wit when not awheel! 5. Treat youths in charge of delivery vans with the greatest -circumspection. Most definitely they are not in the first flight of considerate drivers. 6. Refrain from overtaking with a road junction to the right immediately ahead. Drivers "sometimes" thoughtlessly turn off without signalling. 7. Glance under stationary 'buses for the feet of descending passengers about to step into my front wheel.
