The Gowrnment metporoloplst issued the foIlowinQ weather report and forecast last night: — General situation: An intense anticyclone still remains centred over the Dominion, while a complex depression now ex^ends between New South Waies and south-western New 2ealand. Fopecast: Winds moderate to strong north-easterlies to northerlies, rising to gale force i'n places in and south of Cook Strait, taacking to southerlies soon in the far south and later southerlies becoming general. Weather: Fair to fine and warm generally at first, but $oon becoming unsettled in western and far southern districts with rain developi'ng and srrme heavy falls in Otago; fairly widespread rain, acco'mpanying a southerly change after some 24 to 36 hoursr Foliowing are the barometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Governutent Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Departnient for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday.
