HEARING CONCLUDES

COMMITTED FOR TRIAL Levin, Friday. The hearing of a charge of murder against Allen Roy Easton, rising out of the death of his brother John Spencer Easton by a gun shot wound on November 22, was concluded in the Levin Court this afternoon. The police evidence was to the effect that accused made no reply when charged with the murder. When being taken to Wellington, he remarked to the escorting constable, "That detective is an old fool. He thinks I killed -my brother, but I did not mean to hurt him." Accused pleaded not guilty and reserved his defence. He was committeed for trial to the Supreme Court at Palmerston North.
