MAMAKU WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

The monthly meeting of the Mamaku branch of the Women's Institute, held last week, took the form of a garden party held in thd gardens of Mrs. Cowper, ^lamaku. Afternoon tea was served on the lawn, and various games were played. The winner of the quoit tournament was Mrs. Tawa; deck tennis, Mrs. B. Thorne and: Miss N. Brennan; Miss V. Civil and Miss J. Brennan; clock golf, Miss Nina Brennan. A letter was read by the president from the Mayor of Rotorua (Mr. T. Jackson), asking if the Women's Institute W9UM help his committee in raising fund3 to help the "Hard of Hearing" eampaign. It was decided to forward "a dona- ! tion to the Mayor. The next meeting, on the 2nd Wednesday in January, is to take th'e form of a picnic under the "Pines" in Mr. Goodwin's paddocks.
