OFFICIAL RETURNS SHOW GENERAL FALL IN IMPORTS

Rec. Dec. 13. London, Dec. 12. The British Board of Trade returns for November show: — Imports £61,566,000 Exports £31,093,000 Re-exports £4,059,000 The principal decreases compared with the corresponding period of last year are: — Imports: Grain, flour, £1,162,000; food and drink, £2,768,000; iron, steel and manufacturers thereof, £2,163,000; electrical goods and apparatus, £833,000; machinery, £884,000; cotton yams and manufactures, £806,000; woollen ditto, £1,467,000; apparel, £1,332,000; chemicals, £1,115,000; leather and manufactures thereof, £1,083,000. Exports: Iron and steel and manufactures thereof, £326,000; machinery, £471,000. The chief increases are: — Imports: Tobacco, £569,000; wool, £358,000; Exports: Cotton yams and manufactures, £272,000; vehicles, £240,000.
