ARRANGEMENTS MADE TO HELP THE POOR DURING CHRISTMAS The monthly committee meeting of „he Rotorua Women's Club was held in Miss Robinson's rooms on Tuesday, December 6, at 7.45 p.m., Mrs. Davidson presiding. The president referred very feelingly to the death of Mr. Walter Steele and a resolution of sympathy I: .ife and family was passed. • ...^«sur.r ivported that ac- .. , x u.oniuiiig to ilo 19s Od had .. „ .X uuring November. The -ouceri, at Reporoa aivanged by the c ub resulted in £13 8s 9d being made uvailable for dental treatment for the children of the district. Appreciation was expressed at the . a: -ous proposals received from Ro..oiua dentists towards a possible solution of the problem of providing treatment for the Reporoa school children. These proposals have been passed on to the W.D.F.U. to deal with. It was decided to distribute gifts at Christmas time among the poor and needy of the town as far as funds permit. The president said it was regrettable that the club's funds were not as satisfactory as might be. When accounts owing for December were paid very little money would be available to carry on over the new year. It was agreed to hold a Christmas concert for the paticnts at the Sanatoriurn on December 16, club members to provide supper, paper hats, cigarettes, sweets, etc., for the patients. It was reported that a misundertanding had arisen among the relief workers of Rotorua in the belief that Jie Women's Club had been handed over the funds of the Relief Workers' Association. This was contrary to faet. The offer had been made by the association, but the amount offcred was quite inadequate to deal with the relief workers' needs, and the funds of the club would not permit of the arrangement being made.
