SCHOOL TENNIS COURT

The official opening of the Mamaku School Tennis court was performed by Mr. McMillan on Saturday. The weather was very overcast, and the ceremony took p'lace before a small crowd of tennis enthusiaists. A tournament was run, the winners being ladies, Mrs. B. Thorne; men, Mr. D. Carron. Afternoon tea was served in the school porch. It was announced during the afternoon that a small debt stil exisbed on the) court. and it was the ambition of the school committee to purchase racquebs for use of the school children, whose parents could not alford to buy them personally. For this purpose, it was decided to run a children's fancy dress ball on Friday, December 16, the evening of breaking-up day of the primary schools.
