DEATH OF WELL-KNOWN CHRISTCHURCH JEWELLER

Christchurch, Tuesday. Walter John Watson, a well-known city jeweller and optician was found dead on the Cashmere Hills this afternoon. There was a gun shot wound in his head and a shot gun was found alongside the body. At the inquest to-day it was stated that Mr. Watson had been in ill health and depressed for the past year, and had been for four weeks in hospital at Hanmer for a recuperative rest. He left the hospital to receive dental treatment and was to have returned to Hanmer to-day. The inquest was adjourned.
