YOUNG MAN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER

Dunedin, Tuesday. In the Magistrate's Court Thomas Polson was charged with attempting to murder Ruth Eleanor Corlet on November 14, also with attempting to commit suicide on the same date. He was remanded till December 9. The police stated that the girl, who is aged 19 years, is still seriously ill in hospital. She sustained a broken left arm and scalp wounds when, it is alleged, she was attacked by Polson with a hammer in her room at a boarding-house. Polson was later admitted to" the hospital with a wound in the throat.
