NO CANDIDATES COME UP TO REQUIRED STANDARD

Wellingtoh, Tuesday. For the first time in history, New Zealand will he without a Rhodes Scholar this year. The selection committee met at Government House today and the- five candidates appeared before it. After protracted deliberations upon their merit, it was resolved to make no award. It is understood that the meeting was the longest selection meeting ever held. Victoria University College did not nominate any candidates and Otago only made one nomination, but Auckland and Canterbury both nominated two students.
