Bradman was sufficiently recovered to bat bnt immediately lost Hird, who put up his bat to protect his body and Was caught at silly mid oh. Bradman and Cummins then become associated in a useful partnership, the latter placed the ball nicely and collected many fours. He was confident against the English bowlers. Bradman was very nnfortunate. He was battirig nicely when Voce put orie hard up the pitch: Bradman, thinking it would fly over iiis head, walked away from the wicket, but the ball failed to rise, and took his middle stump.
