EAST COAST ROAD

The contractor who is to build the bridge over the Raukokore River on the East Coast road between Opotiki and Cape Runaway, now has the materials on the site and has commenced work. The Public Works Department is forming and metalling the road from the Raukokore stream to the county boundary. It is uncertain whether motorists will be lable to_ get right through to Gisborne by this route even when the bridge has been built, as there are about four or ^ five miles of very rough track. This road is ma,intained by the Gisborne branch of the Public Works DeP'artment.
