SIR T. WILFORD DESCRIBES INTERVIEW WITH MUSSOLINI A MAGNIFICENT ROOM

Rec. Nov. 27, 6.30 p.m. London, Novemher 26. Sir Thomas Wilford hgs returned to London. Interyie'wed hy the Australian Press Association regarding his visit to Signor Mussolini at Rome, he said that with his daughter, Miss Isahel Wilford, he was ushered into the Duce's audience chamber at the Palazia Venezia through a door 30 feet fiigh. They then found themselves in the largest and most magnifieent room of its kind he had lever seen. At the far end sat Mussolini at a plain desk, which apart from the chairs, was the only furniture. Mussolini was wearing a lounge suit and blaek shirt and tie. He greeted them cordially and in excellent English. He discussed foreign affairs and expressed the hope that Italians in New Zealand were prpving themselves worthy citi^ens. He was . delighted with Sir Thomias's agsuriance that many of them were .personal friends. At the eonclusion of 20 minutes conversation, Mussolini chose a red rpse frpm his desk and asked Miss Wilford to accept it. He then arranged for them to inspept the palace 1 fapartments including th'e Fascist Council Chamber.
