CATTLE PRICES ADYANCE AT FRANKTON. SHEEP UNALTERED
The Farmers' Co-operative Auetioneering Co., Ltd., report: — At the Frankton sale to-day a smaller yarding of sheep came forward, with no alteration on late rates. A good entry of fat lambs was penned, prices remaining firm at last week's quotations. Cattle: A short yarding of ox beef and consequently a sharp rise resulted. Cow and heifer beef of good quality was also in short supply, anj this showed a good increase in value. Second quality cow heef showed an improvement while store cattle remained unchanged. Pigs: An average yarding of fat pigs met with better competition while a short yarding of stores showed an improvement. Quotations : — Medium 1 fat wethers, 10s lOd to 11s ld; light 10s to 10s 6d; medium fat hoggets, 10s to 10s 8d; light, 9s to 9s 7d; heavy fat ewes 5s 6d to 6s; light 4s 6d to 5s; heavy fat lambs, 11s 9d to 12s 6d; medium, 10s to 10s 9d; light 9s to 9s 6d; vealers, 12s 6d to 16s; medium fat steers £5 16s to £5 19s; heavy fat cows £4 ls to £4 9s; medium £3 10s to £3 17s; light £2 5s to £3; killable, 27/6 to 35/-; store cows, 20s to 25s; boners 11s to 18s; yearling Jersey heifers 35s to £2, 5s; bulls for service, £2 to £2 10s. Pigs: Heavy baconers, 39s to £2 3s, medium 35s to 38s; light, 31s to 34s; heavy porkers, 28s to 30s; medium, 24s to 27s; stores, 16s 6d to 18s; slips, 11s 6d to 16s, weaners 8s to 11 6d.
