STRAYING CATTLE
WAIOTAHI MAORIS FINED IN OPOTIKI COURT Three Maoris who had' allowed their cattle to stray at Waiotahi were charged at the Opotiki Magistrate's Court with the offence and pleaded guilty. Chas Leggett, county ranger, gave evidence of having impounded the cattle. Tawa Wilson had to pay 10s fine plus 10s costs, 5s translation fee and 8s 6d mileage. Jack Karawa and James McCormick were fined similar amounts, mileage in the first case being 10s 6d and in the second 8s 6d.
