auckland branch offers reduction in wages

Wellington, Tuesday. When the adjoiirned proceedings in the tyivographical dispute were resumed before the Conciliation Council tod&y, the Auckland Union's representative announced that Auckland was anxious for an agreement, and was prepared to accept reductions varying from 4 to 5 per centum. Mr. Codlin, the employers' advocate, said he appreciated Auckland's coneiliatory attitude, which would enable matters to be discussed further. Representatives of the other unions ohjected to the Auckland Union's proposals.. Christchurch and Otago said they wo.uld agree to a reasonable reduction if the hours were reduced. Mr. Codlin said the employers must have the same output for less expenditure. Proeedings were adjourned for further consideration of the Auckland propusals by hoth parties.
