Milbourne, Nov. 13. - For the. resumption of the visiting English team's. qricket match with Victoria, thundery conditions were prevailing, but the wiclcct was good, being unaffected by the week-end showers. . Paynter was dismissed- by a smart catch behind the wicket by Fieet-wood-Smith's fourth ball. . At 12.40, rain caused ^ an adjournment of 40 minutes. Hammorid was out soon after resumption. He gave a superb display lasting 247 minutes. He hit one six and 24 f ours. The innings was declared closed at 2.53 p.m. Ironmonger was again in good form. He bowled 38 overs for 19 maidens. Fleetwood-Smith was better than on Saturday, but still a little disappointing. Woodful was batting confidently, although he was batting slowly. Oakl'ey had some very narrow escapes. Woodful was out for a poor stroke after 75 minutes. ' Oakley made several excellent strokes. Darling, who wqs suffering from a strained thigh, had a suhstitute to run for him. The wickets fell quicktoward the end, three going in one of Allen's overs. England's fielding generally was showing a great improvement. The match finished at 5 o'clock. The attendance was 10,000 and the
gate receipts were £400. .
