GARDEN PARTY
PRESIDENT ENTERTAINS THE MEMBERS OF HIS COMMITTEE Mr. Ken Black, president of the A. and P.. Association, gave a garden party for members of the committee at the residence of his mother, Mrs. John Black, on Sunday afternoon. The function was most enjoyable, and the garden and grounds unique in arrangement and lay-out. In fact, they were, as =some of the visitors emarked, not unlike the gardens at Ellerslie Racecourse, only on a smaller scal'e. There were green houses, ferneries, rose gardens and pergolas. Trout swam in an artificial lily pond, while a Maori whare and an artistic sleeping hut, added novelty to the scene. After the visitors had been convey■ed around the grounds, a dainty affer- , noon tea was served in the drawing | room, and Mr. A. Cohen rendered two | delightful violin solos. At the conclusion of the afternoon tea, a competition held was won hy Mrs. C. J. Fox. Among those present were: Mesdames C. J. Fox, W. Burrett, R. Vanstone, E. Burgess, E. Payne, D. Burton, T. Pearson, J. Mansell, J. Talbot, J. Steptoe, J. Hughes, V. Dick, W. Lowe, P. Mortensen, T. Urquhart, W. Scott and Misses N. Shaw, E. Reid, and N. N'eilsen.
