MAN AND WOMAN FOUND DEAD WITH AWFUL WOUNDS ALTERCATION HEARD

Rec. Nov. 14, 12.5 a.m. Sydney, Nov. 13. Lyle Withers, aged 38 years, a hootmaker, of Narrabri, and Isabella Golden, aged 25 years, married, with three. children, were murdered early this morning. Mrs. Golden- had -been housekeeping for Withers for six weeks. .Her head was terribly battered -and her meck almost severed, whilst Withers' throat had been cut and- there was a gun shot wound in his chest. •• . . A person named Mavis heard altercations, threats and screams, -and .also a strange man's- voice. The police have detained a ma'n, an acquaintance of Mrs. Golden's who recently returned from Queensland. i Suspect Released . Later. — The police are now of the opinion that the Narrabri :*tragedy was one -of imurder and suicide.1 They helieve that Withers. committed the act. • The detained man is to be released. 1 • —
