Present indications are that a greater p-roportion of the Gisborne wool clip will be sold in the Dominion this season than in recent years (states an exchange). The Napier saies being the principal venue last year, larger quantities than usual were sent to London saies, growers holding oif in the helief that ah improvement in prices would take place before the end of the selling season. Instead, a decline continued right up to July, by which time! most of the Gisborne clips had been disposed of. Some increase in price took place between July and September, but the general opinion seems to he that the cost of holding wool eounteracted any beneflt from the larger gross return. Disappointment with the result of London selling has promp'ted many morje farmers to support the local saies this season, and it is expected that a fairly large quahtity will go forward for the first Napier auctions. Shearing, however, is not so far forward .as last year, Unsettled weathereausing more delay.
