HOSPITABLE ENTERTAINMENT ON GUY FAWKES NIGHT

Our District Representative.)

(From

Guy Fawkes night was celebrated on Friday night at Luke's farm, Awakeri. There was a large attendance from Whakatane and surrounding districts. Mr. Luke has made a practice for some years of having a yearly festival on November 5, and the small charge for adults -at the entrance gate is used for the purchase of fireworks. The display this year- wasj highly spectacular and the bonfire lit up the area and was visible for miles around. The Whakatane Citizens' Band was in attendance and the social hall was a scene of gaiety, dancing being enjoyed by young and old until a late hour. Mr. Luke and his family are to be congratulated both on the success of this year's gathering and for their most hospitable entertainment.
