MAMAKU FRIENDS ENTERTAIN TWO POPULAR RESIDENTS
(From
The Regent Theatre last evening was filled to overflowing, when the friends of Mr. and Mrs. L. King gave a farewell social and dance. Mr. King has been stationmaster in Mamaku for the past eleven years, and is leaving next week to take up a position in Auckland. During the evening Mr. and Mrs. King were presented with a handsome oak dining room clock from the general public, while Mrs. King also received a jardiniere of Chinese ware from the Anglican Church committee. Music was provided by Tattersall's Orchestra and songs rendered by Miss Nina Brennan and Mr. P. Heather were much appreciated. Mr. and Mrs. King were given a round of rousing cheers when the dance broke up at two o'clock.
