EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
The Woodlands branch of the Women's Institute is holding an evening of flag" 500 and dancing in the Woodlands Hall on Tuesday. Half of the proceeds is being given to the Wairoa Earthquake relief and one half to a deserving local family. The Institute hopes that the function will be well supported as the proceeds are for a good eausa and the ladies will do their best to give everyone a good time. Native Nurse's Visits A total of 38 visits has been made 1 by Nurse Wehi Pihaua, at Te Kaha, during the past month. The Native Department supplies the nurse with a car and benzine and the board supplies her with a dwelling. So ran the report to the Opotiki Hospital Board. An Elusive Pig. "We just had time to sell one ticket in the raffle for a! pig, when he got away, so the chap who bought the ticket drew a "blank," reported a member of the Opotiki Hospital Board when the subject of presenting some pigs to the hospital was on the table.
